Caring for Earth and People: Past Wisdom, Future Vision
“I fully support the proposal to hold the ISPRS Congress in Sydney in 2030. The Organising Committee have many years of experience organising ISPRS conferences, including workshops, Symposia, and other international meetings. The International Convention Centre Sydney is a state-of-the-art convention centre, located on Sydney Harbour, one of the most picturesque and stunning cities around the world. I am very confident that holding the Congress in Sydney in 2030 will bring outstanding technical, cultural and social benefits to Congress participants.”

Why Sydney?
Local organisation and support
Locus Alliance has been established by the Institution of Surveyors New South Wales (NSW) as its own entity and will eventually take over the Australian membership for ISPRS.
The Institution of Surveyors NSW has a wealth of experience in connecting the community through its events including its annual conference, regular CPD seminars, workshops and webinars.
Locus Alliance brings together Australia’s surveying and geospatial professionals under one trusted, member-led national body. Built by practitioners, for practitioners, we unite individuals across states and disciplines to strengthen and elevate standards, champion profession growth, and collectively shape the future of our industry.
We have partnered with Business Events Sydney, the New South Wales (NSW) State Government and peak bodies from around Australia to ensure successful congress delivery, optimum engagement with industry, academia and Government, and an enduring local and international legacy.
Academic and community support
Australia has a longstanding and meaningful relationship with ISPRS, demonstrated through leadership roles, hosted events, and ongoing scientific contributions across multiple decades.
From hosting the 2012 Congress in Melbourne to providing ISPRS presidents, commission leaders, and numerous Scientific and Education Initiative projects, Australia’s engagement reflects deep technical capability and consistent commitment to the global photogrammetry and remote sensing community.
Sydney’s bid is backed by strong national and regional support, including six leading Australian universities alongside New Zealand partners and the Australasian Spatial Information Education and Research Association. Together, this coalition brings extensive expertise, organisational capacity, and a shared vision for delivering an exceptional ISPRS Congress in Sydney.
